About Map Zena

We build mapping and geo-enrichment infrastructure for developers who want strong data quality and strong privacy controls.

Our mission

Map Zena was created to offer straightforward geo APIs with transparent usage pricing and limited data collection.

Developers should be able to geocode an address, look up a timezone, or serve map tiles without unnecessary account friction or intrusive tracking.

Our core principle is simple: we minimize what we collect and store.

What we build

Map Zena provides a suite of geo-data APIs under a single key:

  • Geocoding - convert addresses and place names into coordinates
  • Reverse Geocoding - convert coordinates into human-readable addresses
  • Timezone - get timezone ID, UTC offset, and DST status for any point
  • Elevation - query terrain and bathymetry values using SRTM15+ with variable effective resolution
  • IP Geolocation - locate any IP to country, city, ASN, and proxy status
  • Hosted Map Tiles - serve XYZ raster and vector tiles in multiple styles

Every API response can optionally include enrichment data: population statistics, GDP figures, climate normals, administrative hierarchies, ISO codes, calling codes, languages, and more - all without a second request.

Our data quality approach

We intentionally avoid publishing a dependency-by-dependency vendor map. That helps keep our ingestion architecture private and resilient, while still being transparent about data quality standards.

Global address intelligence

We aggregate multiple trusted geospatial layers for addresses, roads, boundaries, and points of interest, then reconcile them into a consistent search index.

Terrain and physical context

Elevation and terrain products are normalized into a single query model so results stay consistent across all countries and coordinate ranges.

Economic and demographic enrichment

Population, GDP, and related enrichment fields are maintained from official public datasets and reviewed on a rolling schedule.

Climate and temporal data

Climate normals and timezone intelligence are preprocessed for fast lookup with stable schemas across API versions.

Our pipeline uses deduplication, confidence scoring, and regional QA checks before data reaches production.
